The best point and shoot digital camera is being bought by several of those that are used to the old 35 mm film cameras. Having an old camera may be the choice of some of the traditional photographers but the new digital ones have come a long way in the eyes of other viewers. Before digital cameras became popular, people were used to loading film into the camera by hand and snapping pictures that they were unsure of. Digital camera screens are helping people capture better, clearer memories and keeping them longer by having a backup copy on a scan disk, or SD card. These cards can be bought in several different sizes such as a 1GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, or even broken down into 256MB. Having so many ways to keep those memories safe is helping several people make the decision to purchase their very own digital camera.

Getting Used to a New Iron is Easier Than I Thought

August 23rd, 2011

It seems to me that to get those wrinkles on the clothes straight I have to iron my arm off. That is how bad ironing is for me, until one day I moved into a new house and my sister got me the best steam iron as a housewarming gift. I had told her about the long hours of ironing and how my arm felt sore afterward, and she had subtly hinted that a steam iron would be a better choice compared to my traditional iron. I was skeptical because I had never trusted all those new innovative stuff and the steam irons had look plasticky to me. But she insisted that I try it and soon I found out she was right! The creases were gone in a blink and it had merely took me a minute to iron a shirt. It wasn’t a hassle to refill the water tank, and the iron heat up faster than I’d imagine. I think I can get used to ironing now.

My Friend Bought Me an Edenpure Heater

June 6th, 2011

I didn’t know why, exactly. As far as I knew I wasn’t in the market for a heater, but here he comes at the beginning of winter and brings me an Edenpure as a gift. Which I accepted gracefully, of course, but wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it. Then winter came, and I figured it out. See, it was a fairly cold winter for California and I was always freezing. But I didn’t want to run the central heat all the time, because it was just me in the house. Then I remembered the portable heater and brought that out and boy, was I happy. I warmed up just the room I spent most of my time in and kept the rest of the house at a basic temperature. Not only was I not cold, I saved money on heating costs! I have to remember to thank my friend again when I see him.

Discounted Garmin Nuvi GPS

April 28th, 2011

I just spotted a website that has the best prices on Garmin GPS. I just bought 2 Garmins from them and saved a ton of money. Shipping was fast too. I got them in about a week. I bought the Garmin Zumo 660 for my motorcycle and the Nuvi 765 for my car. I saved 20% on both Garmins. You can’t beat that! I had been looking for about 3 months or so before I can across the Refurbished Garmin GPS website. Very cool site. It was easy to find what I wanted and no pesky pop-up ads either.

I love having a GPS when driving. I like seeing the road ahead of me like the upcoming roads or exits. Just makes you feel like you know where you are going at all times. I like seeing what streets are up ahead . The other thing I really love and use all the time is the Points of Interest. I use it just to find new restaurants to try in my home town and when I travel. Garmin is the best too.

Tips to Buy the Best E-reader

November 30th, 2010

There are certain questions you need to ask yourself before buying an e-reader. This is important because there are many brands in the market offering different features and advantages and if you are not an experience buyer it can be rather confusing to decide your e-reader. By asking some of the following important questions on your needs you can drill down to get the most suitable e-reader for yourself:

Are you looking for a dedicated e-reader or multipurpose device?

Kindle, Nook and Sony reader are some of the most popular dedicated e-reader with some or limited features apart from reading books. They are design to give the ultimate reading experience for long-form reading. Smart phones, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch is a multi purpose device and does other things a lot better than reading eBooks. For example, iPad is a tablet computer and does everything a laptop computer can do.

If you don’t read much and are more into other activities like listening to music, playing games, web browsing, etc. You may find non-dedicated e-reader device more suitable. However, if reading is your primary objective there is nothing better than a dedicated e-reader to give you the pleasure of reading.

What is Your Display Screen Preferences

Most of the dedicated e-readers use electronic paper like the E Ink for their screen display. The E ink technology allows you to read books from your device like printed paper with no glare and eyestrain. However, they are black and white and not ideal for reading magazines and other colorful illustrated books. They are not backlit and you can’t read them in the dark, but you can read them in a bright lit environment and direct sunlight which you cannot do with the LCDs screen.

LCD screen on the other hand is bright, backlit, colorful and a pleasure to read colorful books, magazines and periodicals. But these very advantages have drawbacks. It is difficult to read in bright light and tires your eyes while reading for long hours. You will also not get the paper print look like the E Ink screen.

You have the choice of touch screen if you prefer, with e-reader like Barnes and Noble’s Nook and Sony readers. Nook color has one of the best LCD touch screen for a very competitive price starting at $249. Sony readers have touch screen for all the E Ink models starting at the price of $149.97. When you are checking your preference for Kindle Vs Sony Reader, the presence of touch screen with Sony Readers and the absence of it with Kindle is the key difference.

Do You Need Wireless Connectivity

Most of the popular brands like Kindle, Nook and iPad all have Wi-Fi connectivity enabling you to download books straight from your device on the go. They also have the option for 3G connectivity, a good option for places where Wi-Fi hotspots are not available. However, you need to pay extra money for the device with 3G connectivity. There is also a monthly data bill if you opt for iPad 3G but it comes free with Nook, Kindle and Sony readers.

Sony’s Reader Pocket Edition (PRS-350) and Reader Touch Edition have no Wi-Fi connectivity and you need a computer or other compatible device to download and transfer books. The one that has Wi-Fi connectivity is the Reader daily Edition (PRS-950) priced at $249.

What Screen Size and Weight do you prefer?

Portability is very important to go truly mobile with your e-reader. The smallest and lightest e-reader is the Sony’s Reader Pocket Edition PRS-350 which weighs just 5.47 oz with 5″ screen size. Kindle Wi-Fi model weighs 8.5oz with its 6 inch screen and Kindle Wi-Fi+3G models weighs 8.7 oz. Nook Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+3G weighs 11.6 and 12.1 ounces, respectively.

The weight of iPad is not as advantageous as the above mentioned e-readers with the Wi-Fi model weighing 24 ounces and the 3G model weighing at 25.7 ounces. This is one of the major drawbacks of iPad to consider it for the best e-reader, with that kind of a weight it is not ideal for long reading sessions.

Do You Need the Support of EPUB Format?

EPUB is a free and open eBook standard with which you can obtain loaner books and download free books mostly public domain, pre-1923, from various sources like epubbooks.com and Google books. All other e-readers support EPUB format except Kindle. However, kindle store has thousands of popular public domain titles for free as well as contains the largest selection of books people want to read with over 750,000 titles. This is the reason why people see no difference and buy kindle more than any other e-readers.

How much do you want to spend?

Among the most popular brands, it is not just the features but the prices are also competitive. The two top sellers are Kindle and Nook which are priced at $139 and $149 respectively for the Wi-Fi model. If you are fine without the Wi-Fi connectivity and like full touch screen support you can go for the Sony’s Reader pocket Edition price at $149.97 with 5″ screen size or the Reader Touch Edition ($199.97) with 6″ screen size.

Nook color with 7 inch full touch screen of Barnes & Noble cost $249, a good option in the middle price range eBook reader category. The Sony’s Reader Daily Edition with E Ink full touch screen support and Wi-Fi connectivity is also available for $249 with the same 7″ screen size.

In the upper price range category we have the Amazon’s Kindle DX (3G) for $379 for 9 inch screen and Apple’s iPad (Wi-Fi only) starting at $499. As mentioned earlier, iPad is a tablet computer and is more of a competition to laptop or notebook than to a dedicated e-reader.
